About Us Amrit Mahotsav

  1. Wellington Mutamizh Sangam and Hindu Council of NZ-Wellington, in association with the High Commission of India Wellington, celebrated Makar Sankranti and Pongal at Avalon Park, Lower Hutt on 22 January 2022. High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi attended the event as the Chief Guest. The event included many activities like kite-flying, cycle competition, cultural performances, etc. Mayor of Lower Hutt, Mayor Campbell Barry and MP for Hutt-South, Ms. Ginny Andersen MP also attended the event.

  2. High Commission of India celebrated the 73rd Republic Day of India, at India House, Wellington. Members of the Indian diaspora and friends of India participated with enthusiasm. Indian community members presented a series of wonderful patriotic cultural performances.

  3. On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day of India, and as part of Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), High Commissioner Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi launched a booklet titled “101 Maori Proverbs” on 26 January 2022. It consists of 101 popular Maori Proverbs with Hindi & English translations. The sole idea behind bringing this Booklet out was to connect the people of Indian & Maori communities and highlight the similarities between these two cultures. Mr. Rohit Kumar Happy, Editor,  has played an important role to bring this booklet, translation & designing. Dr. Pushpa Bhardwaj Wood & Ms. Preeta Vyas also contributed to compiling & translating this booklet

  4. On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day of India, High Commissioner Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi launched an "Indian Community e-Directory" on 26 January 2022. It is a comprehensive list of Indian associations, socio-cultural organizations, dance/music/language schools, places of worship and multi-lingual ethnic media. This would help the members of the Indian Community to connect with each other.   5. On the occasion of 73rd Republic Day of India, High Commissioner Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi launched a handbook titled “Exporting to New Zealand” on 26 January 2022. The report is intended to provide valuable information to Indian exporters about the New Zealand market, thereby opening new opportunities for them to venture into it.   6. Wellington Indian Association Inc. and the High Commission of India celebrated Makar Sankranti with members of the Indian community and organized an event to fly kite on this occasion. Kids, youngsters and veterans participated with enthusiasm and enjoyed the day.

The Wellington Punjabi Women Association Inc and High Commission of India celebrated Punjabi Culture & festivities on 15 January 2022 (Ladies event only) showcasing the rich culture and traditions of Punjab on the occasion of 75 years of Independence (India@75) Amrit Mahotsav. Ms. Rakhi Pardeshi, wife of the High Commissioner attended the event as the Chief Guest. Congratulations to the entire team of Wellington Punjabi Women Association Inc, especially Ms. Navneet Kaur, Chairperson.

  8. High Commission of India virtually celebrated the #NationalYouthDay, to mark the birth anniversary of the Indian philosopher & social reformer, #SwamiVivekananda. Speakers: Welcome remarks: H.E.   9. High Commission of India & Wellington Hindi School celebrated World Hindi Day 2022 at Bharat Bhavan, Kilbirnie, Wellington. H.E. Muktesh K. Pardeshi gave awards to the winners of the Hindi Essay writing & Poster making competition. Students of Wellington Hindi School presented many colourful performances. High Commission of India also celebrated Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2022 at Bharat Bhavan, Kilbirnie, Wellington. Sir Anand Satyanand, Former Governor-General of New Zealand & former PBD Awardee and Shri Deepak Bhana, President, Wellington Indian Association Inc., also gave their remarks on Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Members of the Indian community participated in a large number to make these two events successful.

  10. High Commission of India in association with Wellington Chamber of Commerce, India New Zealand Business Council, Duco Consultancy & Sun:IT hosted a business event on Information Technology “India’s IT Sector – the Kiwi connections” at the Wellington club on 25 November 2021. High Commissioner H.E. Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi in his opening remarks, highlighted India’s role in the growth of IT Sector in NZ and he also showed the way to the Indian IT company leaders how they can expand their business in other Pacific Island countries using NZ as a base.

  11. Indian Students' Organisation of Te Herenga Waka—Wellington Uni celebrated Diwali in collaboration with India in New Zealand (High Commission of India, Wellington). H.E. Mr. Muktesh K. Pardeshi, High Commissioner of India to New Zealand lighted the lamp and addressed the gathering.

  12. We celebrated the #ConstitutionDay of India at the High Commission of India, Wellington. High Commissioner read the Preamble to the Constitution with the other officials of the High Commission.

  13. Mr. Marten Rabarts, Festival Director, NZIFF invited H.E. Muktesh K. Pardeshi, High Commissioner, to attend the screening of the Marathi movie "Godavari" as the Guest of Honour with the other High Commission officials at Penthouse Cinema and Cafe, Wellington.
