Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India and its Public Sector Undertaking Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) along with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) are organizing the second edition of Global Bio – India 2021 virtually from 1 – 3 March 2021 at Virtual Platform.
Biotechnology sector is recognized as one of the key drivers for contributing to India’s economy target of USD 5 Trillion, and is poised to grow exponentially over the next decade. Policy initiatives of Government of India such as Make in India program are aimed to develop India as a world-class Biotechnology innovations and Bio-manufacturing hub. India is among the top 12 destinations for biotechnology in the world valued at USD 51 Billion during 2018-19.
Recognizing the importance of this sector, Global Bio-India 2021 would deliberate on the opportunities and key challenges in the areas of Bio-pharma, Bio-agri, Bio-industrial, Bio-energy, Bio-services and MedTech sectors. Salient components of Global Bio-India 2021 would include events such as Bio-partnering, Policy dialogues, CEO Roundtable, Global Regulators Meet, Investors Roundtable, Country/ Ministries/ Departments/ States/ Startups Pavilions. The Global Bio-India 2021 will provide an ideal platform for stakeholders across the world to converge and create the necessary environment required for the current needs of society.
The event is expected to draw large number of delegates from across the globe connecting Indian Biotechnology ecosystem with International ecosystem. This mega international congregation of biotechnology stakeholders would include participation from national & international bodies, regulatory agencies, Central & State Ministries, SMEs, Large industries, Bio-clusters, Research institutes, Investors, Startups, not for profit organizations, Philanthropic organizations and others.

As you are kindly aware, India occupies a leading position in global trade of agricultural products. Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, the Global opportunities have also emerged in the agri sector for Agri economies of the world. India has also been successful in pushing its exports during this difficult time as well.
With traditional export markets going into lockdown and imposing travel restrictions to control Covid-19 outbreak, exporters and importers of the country are finding it difficult to connect with global buyers to keep their business going. And even if the situation normalizes in near future, domestic and global traders would be apprehensive about travelling for participating in international trade fairs and exhibitions which are key in getting new orders and expanding customer base.

Indian Tourism: Offering Multitude Investment Opportunities
As India is gradually recovering from the pandemic, seeing green shoots in the economy, the sectors have started gaining momentum. International Monetary Fund (IMF) projects 11.5% growth rate for India in 2021, making the country the only major economy in the world to register double digit growth this year amidst coronavirus. The Indian Tourism sector is project to grow rapidly owing to its tendency to bounce back. The sector has immense potential to flourish, rope in investments and become one of the driving engines of the economy. The sector is adopting Tourism Technology and is successfully instilling confidence in the consumers.
India was globally the third largest in terms of investment in travel and tourism with an inflow of US$ 45.7 billion in 2018, accounting for 5.9% of the total investment in the country. India also offers state-wise incentives, such as tax holidays, exemption from luxury tax, goods and services tax, or stamp duty as well as concessions on electricity tariff and easier license renewals which has been attracting investors to set up in certain regions of the country. Hence, capitalizing on digitalization, supporting the low carbon transition and promoting the structural transformation is prudent for sustainable and resilient tourism economy.
Against this backdrop, CII is organizing Tourism Investors Summit. The summit is scheduled to be held on 18-19 March 2021 over a digital platform. The key objective of Tourism Investors Summit 2021 is to promote India as the ‘Investment Destination’ and attract investment opportunities in the tourism sector of India. The summit will be an amalgamation of discussions covering a wider eco-system of the Tourism Industry highlighting India's' tourism potential and investible projects.

And now in the ongoing current pandemic, Indian IT services industry has done a spectacular job by working from home and emerged as the Champion Sector to deliver the total solutions worldwide for Win-Win Synergy.
You will be happy to know that as per the mandate of the Department of Commerce, our Council has organised more than 35 Virtual Business Meets to connect over 1100 Indian ICT companies with 900+ overseas buyers. This would not have been possible for us without the active support of our Mission in these countries. These Virtual Meetings are being reviewed by the Department of Commerce regularly.
In a recent meeting of the Empowered Committee in the Department of Commerce, the Council was entrusted to organise INDIA HITECH EXPO & Virtual Business Meetings for the ICT Sector with buyers from OCEANIA & ASEAN region on March 24 - 25, 2021 with dedicated Conference Sessions on the “Opportunities for India-Oceania & Asean countries in the IT Sector”.
We shall be grateful if you can kindly disseminate the propsed “INDIA HITECH EXPO & Virtual ICT Business Meet” with suitable Industry associations / chambers of commerce, prospective buyers and industry members in New Zealand to encourage their participation over WebEx.

The largest event of Chemicals and Petrochemical Industry in India, in its 11th edition i.e. India Chem 2021 is schedule to be held from 8-10 October at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai, India.
