IMPORTANT

1. The High Commission of India has the jurisdiction over New Zealand, Republic of Samoa, Niue,  Vanuatu & the Cook Islands.

2. Biometric enrollment is mandatory for all OCI Applicants w.e.f. 07/01/2026 . All applicants are requested to schedule appointments in High Commission either on Tuesday or Thursday in any week for capturing of biometrics. 

Applicants above 70 years of age or below 12 years of age are exempted from biometric capture.

3. The applicants residing in the following three regions - Northland (Region 1), Auckland (Region 2), and Waikato (Region 3) - need to apply for consular services at the Consulate General of India, Auckland.  The further details are available at the website of Consulate General of India, Auckland on the following link: www.cgiauckland.gov.in

A. Re-issue of OCI CARD:

➡️ When to apply for re-issuance of OCI card:

  • a. Issuance of new passport after completing 20 years of age;
  • b. Change of personal particulars viz. nationality etc;
  • c. Loss/ damage of OCI registration certificate;
  • d. Filling of wrong personal particulars while submitting online application viz. name, father's name, date of birth etc.
  • e. Change of address/occupation of the OCI cardholder.

➡️ Document to be uploaded:

  • - In case of issuance of new passport: A copy each of (i) OCI card, (ii) new passport and (iii) old passport. If the old passport is not returned by the concerned authorities while issuing new passport, copy of old passport may not be enclosed.

  • - In case of loss of OCI card: A copy of the complaint lodged with Police authorities/ foreign police department (in case of theft/loss/ damage of OCI card) and a copy of the OCI card. If the report is in foreign language, authorized translation is required. If a copy of the OCI card was not taken prior to the loss, it may not be enclosed.

  • - In case of change of personal particulars: Copy of the documents relevant for effecting the requisite changes. Sufficient proof for each requested services like change of name, change of address, occupation etc. is to be furnished
    Address proof - electricity bill or landline phone bill or undertaking letter of concerned person or rent/ lease agreement.

  • - Evidence of address of the place of application
  • a. Copy of the Electricity Bill/Telephone bill in own/parents/ grandparents/ spouse name.
  • b. If the above is in any other relative's name, undertaking from the relative stating that the foreigner is residing with him/her.
  • c. Lease License in case of tenants.

Step 1Go to the Website : https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome  - Click on Miscellaneous application for reissue of OCI card 

Step 2Fill new application (enter your OCI/PIO card, passport number linked to OCI/PIO card and the date of birth to proceed further)

Step 3Selection criteria - Change of particulars 

Step 4Fill Part A and Part B complete the entire application process and submit the application  

Step 5Payment Proof of Fee payment amounting to
NZD 46 - Reissue of OCI card 
NZD168 - Damaged OCI / Lost OCI 

  • - Specification guidelines for uploading of documents: The maximum size allowed for a document file is 500 kb. The document file must be in PDF format. (For sake of comparison, an A-4 size page document color scanned at 100 dots per inch resolution will generate a file of about 200-250 kb). Each category of document must be uploaded in a single file.
  • - Guidelines for uploading of photo: The image must be in JPEG or JPG format with maximum size of 200 KB. The minimum resolution of the photo must be 360 pixels (width) X 360 pixels (height) and the maximum resolution must be 900 pixels (width) X 900 pixels (height). The file extension should be NAME.JPEG while uploading it.
  • - Guidelines for uploading the signatures: The signatures must be in jpeg or jpg format with maximum size of 200 KB. The height and width of the signature photo must have aspect ratio of 3:1. The minimum resolution of the signature photo must be 360 pixels (width) X 120 pixels (height) and the maximum resolution must be 900 pixels (width) X 300 pixels (height).

  • - Self-addressed registered courier envelope with tracking facility for returning the new OCI card once it is ready.

B. Online Updation after Passport Renewal:

➡️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

ONLINE UPDATION IS SUFFICIENT (RE-ISSUE OF OCI CARD IS NOT NEEDED): An OCI cardholder has to update the OCI card each time a new passport is issued irrespective of age except the case of reissuance of OCI card.

For this purpose, the OCI cardholder has to upload a copy of the new passport containing the photo of the passport holder and also a latest photo on the online system under OCI Miscellaneous services. These documents may be loaded by the OCI cardholder within three months of receipt of the new passport. This service will be provided on Gratis basis.

In case of OCI cardholders registered under section 7A(1)(d) of the Citizenship Act, 1955, OCI cardholder spouse shall, in addition to the documents mentioned in (i) above, give a declaration that their marriage is still subsisting. Copy of the Indian passport of the Indian spouse/ passport and OCI card of the OCI cardholder spouse shall also be uploaded in such cases.

Immediately on uploading of the documents, an email will be auto sent by the system to the OCI Cardholder confirming that the documents have been successfully uploaded.

There will be no restriction on the OCI cardholder to travel to/from India during the period from the date of issue of new passport till the date of final acknowledgement of his/her documents in the online system.

➡️ STEPS TO FILL THE FORM (No physical application is required to be sent to the High Commission as it is online updation, this service is on gratis basis) :

Kindly complete Part A and Part B of application and Submit 

Step 1:   Go to the website https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome  - Click on Miscellaneous application

Step 2:  Fill new application (enter your OCI card, passport number linked to OCI card and the date of birth to proceed further)

Step 3:  Selection criteria - passport particulars updation if you want to update only your passport details this is free of service and you will not receive any new oci card , you can travel with oci card, new passport and old passport post completing this step only for online update 

Selection criteria - Address updation if you want to update only your address free of service and you will not receive any new oci card 

You may able to select only one option per application so if you want to update passport details and address both you need to fill two different applications to avail the service

Step 4:  Upload documents:
(i)     Passport particulars updation: A copy each of (a) OCI card, (b) New passport and (c) Old passport. (For Non New Zealand passport holders - Please upload valid NZ Visa copy to avail the online services).   
(ii)    Address Updation: Address proof - Only if applicant wants to update new address.
(iii)   Documents to be uploaded: -

By those registered as OCI Cardholders on the basis of Persons of Indian Origin:-
1. Copy of new passport containing the photo.
2. Latest Photo.

In the case of those registered as OCI Cardholders on spouse basis:-
1. Copy of new passport containing the photo.
2. Latest Photo.
3. Declaration.
4. Indian Passport of spouse (in case of those whose spouse is an Indian citizen).
5. Passport & OCI card of spouse (in case of those whose spouse is an OCI cardholder).

  4. 4. Important - please thoroughly check the Part-A & Part-B of filled application. It will be acknowledged only after completion of both parts of the application. Applicant may travel if the following status are shown in the enquiry: (i) "Your application has been acknowledged by competent authority. It is being processed and will be updated soon".(ii) "Your details have been updated in OCI records
  5. 5. It may be useful to carry your OCI card, Old passport and the new passport while the online update is under process.

C. Cancellation or Renunciation of OCI:

➡️ Cancellation of OCI

Step 1: Complete the Online Application
  • - Visit the official OCI services portal (https://ociservices.gov.in) and use the OCI Miscellaneous Services section to submit an online application for renunciation of OCI status.
Step 2: Prepare Required Documents
  • - Original OCI card and copies of the first and last two pages.
  • - Copy of current valid passport (information page, self-attested).
  • - Proof of legal status in the country of residence (e.g., visa, residence permit), if holding a non-local passport.
  • - Any additional documents specified by the Indian Mission/Post.
  • - Payment Proof in r/o Fee NZD 46
Step 3: Submission
  • - Submit the physical copy of the application form and all supporting documents to the High Commission.
Step 4: Processing and Acknowledgement
  • - Upon successful registration of the renunciation, the Central Government (or the Indian Mission/Post) will issue an acknowledgement in Form XXXI A.
  • - Processing times may vary after the application reaches the Embassy/Consulate.
Step 5: After Renunciation
  • - The individual and their minor children (if applicable) cease to be OCI cardholders.
  • - The person will need a valid Indian visa or other travel authorization to visit India in the future.
Important Notes
  • - The process is distinct from the renunciation of Indian citizenship and cannot be combined with other applications, such as for an OCI card or Indian visa.
  • - Ensure all documents are self-attested and that the application is complete to avoid delays.
